I’ve written this song a while ago, probably more than a year. I personally like jazz music. It is kind of odd for me to write something like this. The main motivation is to get it sold.
The chorus melody is composed in an improvisation session. I just hit the record button on Sonar and then improvise phrases of melody. In order to make a cheesy mandarin pop song, the “cheesy” chord progression is needed.
The typical progression is I, V, vi, iii, IV, I, ii, V. Yeah .. it is the famous Pachelbel’s Canon kind of progression. I started with the chorus melody, and then completed the verses with pretty much the same progression as well. Hope you will enjoy this piece.
You can download the piano score in PDF format. This is the exact MIDI tracks recorded in the video. I use metronome while shooting the video in order to print the score with correct timing and barring.
I will share more about the production of this song in the next post. Stay tuned!
